Unsurprisingly, when pharmacists get into trouble, it is often the consequence of diverting controlled substances for personal use. Working in the candy store while under the relentless pressure and stress of properly filling prescriptions and providing advice to patients leads some pharmacists to cope with stress through the use of drugs. 

I understand this. I understand what it means to seek relief and comfort through the use of drugs and alcohol. I also understand the solution to addiction. I understand what it means to recover. 

No matter what healthcare profession you work in, if you are an addict or alcoholic, your job will be to convince whatever board you are dealing with that you have confronted and addressed your chemical dependency in a meaningful way, and as a result, deserve to be trusted to work in your profession as a clean, sober, and responsible professional.
